So great is the strength in depth at Wythenshawe, he had his debut at full-back.

"It's a little unusual but then, I enjoy sprinting and just move forward - I'm not staying back that much," he said.

"I tell my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That running is what I'm after. It's good fun."

'Surreal Scenario

Along with the forward's six goals on his first game, Stephen Ireland has netted eight in 3 appearances for the side, while George Boyd scored five on his first appearance and Lescott, a defender by position, scored a triple in one match up front.

The team are top of the Premier Tier with three victories from 3 and a GD of +19.

One opponent, 38, who features on the flank for the opposition, came up against former Latics full-back Figueroa on Sunday - and had to explain his nine-year-old son who Emile Heskey was.

"Our group really haven't ceased talking about it - I was phoning my mum and sibling on the journey home.

"Now we can't wait for the return match."
